Sculpt & Slim Injections
Body-contouring injections that support fat metabolism in targeted areas such as the abdomen, thighs, arms and chin, as a complement to a healthy lifestyle.
Overview
Medical weight loss is weight management under the care of a licensed medical provider. The difference from a diet plan or an app is the medical layer: a review of your health history and medications, lab work that looks at thyroid function, blood sugar, cholesterol and other markers that affect weight, a treatment plan that may include prescription medication, and follow-up visits where dose, side effects and progress are reviewed. The goal is a sustainable loss of body fat with preserved muscle, better energy and better metabolic markers, at a pace your body tolerates.
The program may include a GLP-1 class medication where appropriate. GLP-1 medications mimic a gut hormone that slows stomach emptying, lowers appetite and improves the body’s insulin response, so patients feel full sooner and think about food less. They are prescribed after a consultation and lab review, started at a low dose and increased gradually, and paired with a protein-forward eating plan and strength activity to protect muscle. Patients who are not candidates for medication, or who prefer to start without it, follow the same structure with nutrition guidance and check-ins.
Patients from Manhasset, Great Neck, Port Washington, Garden City and across Nassau County come to Rethink after years of losing and regaining weight, after a diagnosis of prediabetes or high cholesterol, or before an event with a specific goal. Each program is individual, and progress is measured by weight, waist, body composition, energy and lab results.
What it treats
The program is for adults who want to lose weight for health, appearance or both, and for whom diet and exercise alone have not held. It also fits the body-contouring and wellness treatments on the menu, which Tami coordinates in one plan.
How it works
Visits take place in a private suite at 496 Plandome Road in Manhasset. The first visit takes 45 to 60 minutes; follow-ups are shorter and are scheduled every two to four weeks.
Tami takes a full history: weight over time, diets tried, medications, sleep, activity, family history and any symptoms. She orders lab work or reviews recent results (thyroid, fasting glucose and A1c, lipids, kidney and liver function) and measures weight, waist and blood pressure. The complimentary consultation covers the approach; labs and medication are quoted separately.
Based on the results she recommends a plan: prescription medication where appropriate, a realistic calorie and protein target, guidance on meals that keep you full, strength activity to protect muscle and, where useful, vitamin injections or IV support. You leave with the plan in writing and the expected pace of loss.
GLP-1 class medications are started at a low dose and increased every few weeks as tolerated. Tami shows you how to take it, explains what to expect in the first weeks (mild nausea, fullness, changed food preferences) and how to reduce side effects with meal size and hydration. She is reachable between visits for questions.
Every two to four weeks you review weight, measurements, side effects and habits and adjust the dose or the plan. Labs are repeated as needed. As you approach your goal, the focus shifts to maintenance: tapering or continuing medication, protecting muscle and setting a routine that holds. Body-contouring treatments can be added for areas that remain.
Results
With a GLP-1 class medication and a structured plan, most patients lose one to two pounds a week after the first month, and 10 to 15 percent of body weight over about a year is the range reported in clinical trials of these medications. Without medication, a steady half a pound to a pound a week is the usual pace. Appetite changes are noticed within the first two weeks; the scale follows. Waist size, energy and blood sugar often improve before the weight does.
Side effects of the medications are mostly digestive and dose-related: nausea, fullness, constipation or reflux in the first weeks of each dose step, which meal size and hydration usually manage. Muscle loss and fatigue are avoided with adequate protein and strength activity, which the plan includes. Weight tends to return when medication stops without a maintained routine, so the maintenance phase is planned from the start.
Candidates and safety
The program suits adults with a body mass index of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition such as prediabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or sleep apnea, which follows the FDA labeling for weight-loss medications. Adults below these thresholds can still follow the nutrition and check-in structure, and Tami will say plainly when medication is not indicated.
GLP-1 class medications are not prescribed during pregnancy or breastfeeding or when you are planning to conceive, with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2, with a history of pancreatitis, or alongside certain diabetes medications without coordination with your prescribing physician. Gallbladder disease, severe gastrointestinal conditions and a history of eating disorders are reviewed case by case. Bring a current medication list to your consultation, and tell Tami about any weight-loss medication you have used before, including compounded products.
Pricing

The consultation is complimentary. Program costs depend on whether medication is prescribed, which medication and dose, and how often you are seen. Tami quotes the monthly cost in writing at the first visit, before anything is started, including lab work if it is needed. Insurance sometimes covers lab work and, in some plans, weight-loss medication for qualifying diagnoses; ask about documentation for your insurer at the consultation. Payment plans are available.

Why Rethink
Weight management at Rethink is led by Tami Abramov, MSN, FNP-BC, a board-certified family nurse practitioner who reviews your labs, prescribes and adjusts medication and sees you at every visit herself. Her background in emergency medicine and pain management means comorbidities, medication interactions and side effects are handled with clinical care, and referral to your physician or a specialist happens when it should.
The practice sees one patient at a time in a private suite in Manhasset, on Long Island’s North Shore, and the program connects to the rest of the menu: vitamin injections and IV support during the program, fat-dissolving and Sculpt & Slim injections for areas that remain, and skin treatments as your face and body change. Consultations are complimentary and unhurried, and you leave with a written plan and cost.
Questions
Weight management under the care of a licensed medical provider: a health history and lab review, a plan that may include prescription medication, nutrition and activity guidance, and regular follow-up where dose and progress are adjusted. The medical oversight is what separates it from a diet program.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It mimics a hormone the gut releases after eating, which slows stomach emptying, signals fullness to the brain and improves the insulin response, so you eat less without constant hunger. It is taken as a weekly injection, started low and increased over several months. Whether a GLP-1 medication is appropriate for you, and which one, is decided at your consultation after a lab review.
GLP-1 medications have been used for type 2 diabetes since 2005 and are FDA-approved for chronic weight management. Common side effects are digestive and fade as the body adjusts. Serious risks such as pancreatitis and gallbladder disease are uncommon, and the medications are avoided with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer. Medical supervision, gradual dosing and honest reporting of side effects are what make treatment safe.
Most patients on medication lose one to two pounds a week after the first month, and clinical trials report 10 to 15 percent of body weight over about a year. Without medication a half pound to a pound a week is typical. Your pace depends on starting weight, dose, protein intake, sleep and activity, and Tami sets a realistic target at your first visit.
The consultation is complimentary. The monthly cost depends on medication, dose and visit frequency and is quoted in writing at the first visit. Lab work is quoted separately if needed. Insurance rarely covers wellness weight programs, though some plans cover medication for qualifying diagnoses; ask about documentation. Payment plans are available.
No. Patients who are not candidates, or who prefer to start without medication, follow the same structure: lab review, a nutrition and activity plan and check-ins every two to four weeks. Medication can be added later if progress stalls.
The maintenance phase is planned from the start. Depending on your history, medication is tapered or continued at a lower dose, protein and strength activity protect the muscle you kept, and visits become less frequent. Body-contouring injections can address areas that remain after weight loss.
